HOUSE OF MINALIMA
“Stepping into House of MinaLima is like stepping off the Hogwarts Express into a world of magic,” says Miraphora Mina, co-founder of MinaLima, the design studio that created the entire graphic style Harry Potter franchise. Located at 157 Wardour Street (you’ll spot the cinematic signage from halfway down the street), House of MinaLima is more than just a gallery. Former fashion journalist turned design golden girl Alex Eagle is as sharp eyed as her name suggests and her Soho concept store is in the little black book of every arbiter of taste in London. FOYLES BOOK CLUB
For well over 100 years, Foyles has been the bookstore of choice for everyone from humble Soho locals to literary giants. Thought to be London’s first purpose-built bookstore, the Charing Cross Road store has an astonishing 200,000+ books spread out along four miles of shelves. It’s impossible not to find something you’d love to read at this Soho icon. It even used to hold the Guinness World Record for being the world’s biggest bookshop. Still, books aren’t the only things on offer. You’ll also find a great cafe, a gallery space and an auditorium that holds various events throughout the year.

LIBERTY LONDON
Housed in a mock-Tudor style heritage listed building that has become an icon of the city, Liberty London (or Liberty’s as the locals call it) is quite simply one of the world’s most celebrated stores, famed for its iconic floral and graphic fabric prints, directional design, cultural collaborations and inspiring curation. The department store is known to spot and champion young designers at the start of their careers, and many now-prominent brands were first available at Liberty. To quote author and playwright Oscar Wilde, “Liberty is the chosen resort of the artistic shopper” and it is the perfect place to spend an afternoon.

With 30-years in the industry, Gosh! Comics remains London’s must-visit store for both comic lovers and newcomers alike. Gosh! Comic’s range of graphic novels is second to none. Australian label Dinosaur Designs was founded in 1985 by Louise Olsen and Stephen Ormandy who, after meeting at art school, began selling their jewellery designs at Sydney’s Paddington Markets. Sourcing its inspiration from mother nature, Dinosaur Designs celebrates the raw beauty of rocks, crystal blue lagoons and organic shapes by way of hand-poured resin jewellery and homewares. Each piece is unique, characterised by a warmth and tactility only possible by making each piece by hand at their Sydney studio. With its ready-to-wear, affordable fashion, Danish label GANNI seeks to redefine Scandi style. Keeping with its roots, luxury fabrics are a key component to the house's success today. The 255 square-metre Soho branch in Beak Street has been designed collaboratively with Copenhagen studio Stamuli Architecture to loosely resemble the living quarters of GANNI’s founders, married couple Ditte and Nicolaj Reffstrup. Established in 1887, and still standing proudly in Soho, it is presumed the oldest coffee shop in London.
